5 reasons why Bhutan should be your next travel destinationย

Visiting Bhutan has always been in my Bucket list and last April I finally got a chance to tick it off the list. ๐Ÿ˜

If you want good spicy food, friendly people, picturesque landscapes and cheap wine this is your place to be. ๐Ÿ˜Š

1. The best people.

People in this country really value their “happiness”. For those who are not aware in Bhutan they practice “gross national happiness”. Even though they don’t own the luxuries of life they prefer living life to fullest. The people are ever smiling, very friendly, helpful.

The drivers are very knowledgeable, professional, who take their job seriously go out of their way to help you.

I had the good fortune of making a few friends there and I still keep in touch with them. Oh one more thing about the youth there is that they love Bollywood and the Hindi film industry. I was amazed to see how they’d sing the most difficult lyrics with ease. ๐Ÿ˜

Another intriguing aspect of the people here is the immense love for the royalty. They adore their king and queen and are perfectly content with not attaining the status of a democracy.

2. Food

Oh my god! The best 7 days of my life when it comes to eating every kind of meat with lots of chillies. ๐Ÿ˜ The pork Shanta, kewa datsi, Ema datsi thukpa, dried beef, jaega maaru momos …I could go on and on. They add a lot of chilli pepper and butter, cheese to the food making it extraordinarily delicious. Out the aforementioned dishes Ema datsi is by far the most popular dish in the Bhutanese cuisine. I had the pleasure of staying at a beautiful home stay in Paro where I was treated to the best home cooked Bhutanese food. Even the roadside shops, restaurants serve these dishes. (The wine you get here is amazing as well and very reasonable. Special mention: peach wine!)

3.  Picturesque landscapes

Oh this place is filled with breathtaking views and landscapes. The trek popularly known as the Tiger’s Nest(2.6 miles one way) at an elevation of 10,232 feet is the prime example of it. It’s a 4hour trek more or less and the view of the adjoining mountains as you climb up the altitudes will more than makeup for the difficulty ( if you are as unfit as I am) ๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜›

4. Buddhism

The country believes in the religion of Buddhism. They believe in what the religion preaches and curbs out the three poisons which are hatred, greed and ignorance out of their lives. Like I mentioned earlier they practice Gross national Happiness and thus they don’t cling to expectations and material things at all. The temples, the touristy places also has enough and more depictions of it.

5. Flora and fauna

Bhutan has the most unique variety of flora and fauna available in it’s geographical proximity.  They pay immense importance in the preservation of wildlife and greenery and that’s why you see such vast lustres of green land in between places. It’s one of the biodiversity hotspots of the world with a forest cover of over 60โ„…. In animals you could spot the red panda, rhinos, water buffaloes, swamp deers and several kinds of birds in their zoos. I was personally fascinated by the immense growth of apples and oranges  in the region.

New beginning

Hello! ๐Ÿ™‚

Starting a blog has been present in my to do list for a while now and I am so glad I finally could tick it off. As you might have seen in my profile description I have no life altering messages and quotes of wisdom to offer. I am pretty flaky that way ๐Ÿ˜›

The posts I shall be sharing will be mostly related to the 4 things which I passionately love:

(NOT NECESSARILY IN THIS ORDER) ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Food.

This covers trying out new places, digging new cuisines, discovering hidden gems, Major food porn pictures, food walks, recipes, cooking disasters, 5 min cooking tips for fellow lazy bums like me etc.

2. Bollywood

I am one of those people who knows every possible song from the shittiest movies and have had the courage to sit through most of them. ๐Ÿ˜€ย  So this would mean we’d follow bollywood gossip, fashion trends, dubsmashes, songs, parodies etc.

3. Shopping

I LOVE shopping. That does not necessarily mean I buy branded clothes. (NO MONEY.) I am broke half the year. ๐Ÿ˜› However where there is a will there is a way! I make my way into budget shopping. This means good clothes at a cheaper price from places as diverse as a renowned store in a mall to buying from a street side seller. So we’d catch up on budget shopping, Timeless trends and ensembling outfits to form a complete look.

4. Traveling

Who on earth doesn’t like traveling? Here we shall discuss about dream destinations, budget trips( for eternal brokes like me), family trips, share travel experiences good or bad etc.

5. Miscellaneous

This would cover any other topic which needs to be spoken about. It could range from nail art, price of onions to URI attack.

Hope the blogging experience will be fun for both me and whoever wastes their valuable time to read this. ๐Ÿ˜›
